Firefighters and Slideshows
I created my very first slide show on Flickr today. I had only been in the office at the Berthoud newspaper for about 15 minutes when a call came in about a fire south of town. So I grabbed my camera, my press pass and jumped in the car. Dozens of spectators had parked themselves along Hwy. 287 to view the fire. I kept wondering when there was going to be an accident.
Fire crews had the blaze out within two hours with only one outlying building, a small barn, suffering from heat and smoke damage. Given the incredibly close proximity of the flames at times to nearby homes it was only the quick thinking and hard work of the firefighters that kept the damage to a minimum.
